Garbage Disposal Quick Solutions
- NEVER PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HOPPER!
- Emits hum but won’t work
- Solution: press the reset button found at the bottom of the unit.
- Garbage Disposal won’t turn on
- Is the garbage disposal plugged in?
- If the garbage disposal is plugged in, press the reset button found at the bottom of the unit.
- Next check the circuit breaker and it is off, turn it back on.
- Garbage Disposal is slow to drain
- NEVER USE CHECMICAL DRAIN CLEANERS. They will damage the unit!
- Check the "P" trap that the disposal drains through.
Tips
- Use citrus peels in the garbage disposal to freshen the drain.
- Don’t overfill.
- Don’t pour chemicals into garbage disposers.
- Don’t grind very fibrous materials such as:
- artichoke leaves
- bones
- coffee grounds
- glass
- metal
- rubber
- Run water before and after using the garbage disposal.
